Since his death on 2 April 2005, there has been a support for beatifying and canonizing the late Pope John Paul II as a saint.
His formal beatification ceremony took place on 1st May 2011 in Rome presided by Pope Benedict XVI. and was attended by arrived in Rome from all over the world.
